Book Launch: The Royal Wedding, London 1981 - David Williams

Saturday 27th Feb - 3pm

David Williams' 'The Royal Wedding, London 1981' was the first project ever undertaken by Williams and marked the beginning of a successful career involving a remarkable diversity of artistic practice. This has just been published by Café Royal Books and to mark this, Street Level will host a Q+A event with the artist in conversation with Robin Gillanders, followed by a book signing.

David Williams was born in Edinburgh in 1952. He studied English and Sociology before becoming a professional musician and composer. He took up photography in 1980 and his work has been widely exhibited and published internationally. Williams is the recipient of a range of major awards and prizes including the BBC Television 150 Years of Photography Award. He became Head of Photography at Edinburgh College of Art in 1990 and was appointed Reader in 2003.

Williams' practice is wide-ranging, but in recent years has been increasingly concerned with the notion of non-duality. This is particularly evident in a range of projects undertaken in Japan.
