THIS is the fourth in a series of exhibitions profiling some of the new talent from Scotland's BA Fine Art and Photography courses across Scotland. It embraces aspects of the ways that younger and emerging image-makers engage with photography in analogue and digital forms.
The exhibition includes 23 artists, whose images capture aspects of the multifaceted nature of 'the photographic image' and its relationship to fine art. The title 'FUTUREPROOF' is a pun on the definition of futureproofing – of finding ways of not becoming obsolete in the future, and also of the subtle ways of anticipating future developments in the field, of seizing opportunities, as well as the actual and intangible influences in ideas that feed the art of photography.
From the 'flat', wall-based work presented at Street Level and Gracefield, Peacock Visual Arts explore the porous nature of the still and the moving image and their convergence in installation, thereby adding a new dimension to this year's Futureproof from the Scottish art schools.
Included are graduates from Moray School of Art (Elgin), Grays School of Art (Aberdeen), Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (Dundee), Edinburgh College of Art, Napier University (Edinburgh), Glasgow School of Art, and The University of the West of Scotland / City of Glasgow College.
