For Year of Coasts and Waters 2021 Street Level Photoworks are co-ordinating a series of photography exhibitions and events between July and October in various locations, as well as collaborating with Scotland’s mobile cinema in presenting short Photography on Screen works. To augment this we will present a digital programme of online resources and engagement activities which will open out the programme to those living locally, for those visiting, as well as those who can view and enjoy from afar.
Through the inclusive medium of photography, this coastal-inspired trail of exhibitions and events celebrates Scotland’s coexistence with and dependency on our waterways and coastal lands, promoting the protection and preservation of this vital resource.
Venues include Street Level Photoworks and Trongate 103 in Glasgow, with various partner venues in coastal locations including The Rockfield Centre (Oban), Harbour Arts Centre (Irvine), Scottish Maritime Museum (Irvine), Beacon Arts Centre (Greenock), and Dunoon Burgh Hall. The popular pastime of a trip doon the watter from Glasgow to the Firth of Clyde is further celebrated with a photography trail around many locations on Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Local and remote places will be reached through our digital programme, including live-streamed artist talks and 3D tours of each exhibition, which will be viewable to all at any time.
