The recipients of our ‘On the Edge’ residencies are Kotryna Ula Kiliulyte and Frank McElhinney who will both spend one month respectively in Finland and Ireland.
Both artists' practice variously embrace themes around history, futures, ecology, migration and nationhood. The project is funded through the British Council’s ‘Scotland and Europe’ strand, aimed at strengthening dialogue and cooperation between Scotland and other European countries.
Frank’s residency will be undertaken with Artlink in Fort Dunree, Donegal, and Kotryna’s through the Northern Photographic Centre in Oulu, Finland. The residencies look to the North to explore current and historical commonalities, as well as themes of place and sustainability.
We received many applications for these opportunities, with many excellent proposals. Selection was undertaken between Street Level and the creative partners in the respective countries. We’d like to thank all the artist for taking the time to submit.
Supported by The British Council Scotland | Creative Scotland, The Finnish Institute in London, Artlink, and the Northern Photographic Centre.
