Norman Bissell will talk and read extracts from his new book Living on an Island Expressing the Earth about growing up in Partick in the Fifties and tell how Oscar Marzaroli came from Italy and Joan Eardley came from England to live and work as artists in Glasgow and made a huge contribution to the culture of Scotland. They studied at Glasgow School of Art and became friends when Joan painted children and street life in her Townhead studio and Oscar took thousands of photographs which recorded the many changes in the city, especially in Gorbals in the Sixties and Seventies.
Followed by a Q+A, discussion and refreshments.
