To coincide with the exhibitions 'What Presence' & 'Keeping the Stories Alive' at the Tolbooth, Stirling we are pleased to announce a number of unmissable events as part of Stirling Photography Festival 2024:

Curators Panel and Live Performance from The Bluebells
7pm Saturday 17th August
Ticketed -
Book Here
Join us for an exclusive intimate evening with The Bluebells live in concert and in conversation. Hosted by Nicola Meighan (BBC Scotland) the discussion will focus on the photography of Harry Papadopoulos as well as the snapshots included in ‘Keeping the Stories Alive’, both of which are on show at the Tolbooth. She will be joined by members of The Bluebells Ken McCluskey and Robert Hodgens (Bobby Bluebell), as well as Malcolm Dickson (Director and Curator, Street Level Photoworks Glasgow) and David Meldrum Lowe, author of the book ‘Keeping the Stories Alive’.

“Harry got a job on Sounds magazine as a staff photographer and he got a flat in London that was a home-from-home for all the Glasgow and Edinburgh bands like the Fire Engines, Orange Juice, the Bluebells, Aztec Camera and Joseph K. There would be sleeping bags all over his floor.” - Ken McCluskey

On the panel will be: David Meldrum Lowe on his book of the same name which focusses on bands and venues from the 50s through to the 80s; Billy McChord, musician and band member of 22 Beaches, on the Stirling punk and post punk scenes; Mairi Ross Bauchop, band member of The Fakes; Les Cook, sometime member of Pop Wallpaper; Ewen Duncan, proprietor of Europa Music on record shops in Stirlingshire; and Ken McCluskey, musician and co-curator of the Harry Papadopoulos collection.

It is anticipated that other afficionados of the pre- and post-punk period will attend the event and contribute from the floor.
