Workshops Week

For Scotland's Workshops Week we have programmed a very special series of talks and pop-up workshops - all of which are free to take part in!
Saturday 2nd
This Separated Isle Artist Tour

Join photographer Alicia Bruce as she gives a brief introduction to her work on show and selects a few of her favourite portraits and accompanying statements from the exhibition.
Sunday 3rd April
Darkroom Magic
12.30 - 4pm
(Sessions: 12.30 - 1.30pm / 1.30 - 2.30pm / 3pm - 4pm)

Experience an introduction to the magic of traditional and alternative photographic processes in our darkroom taster sessions. Choose whether to create a Salt print; one of the earliest printing techniques that gives beautiful brown tones on watercolour paper, a Cyanotype with its distinctive blue tones another early printing process coated on watercolour paper or a Photogram to create playful images with light and objects on traditional photographic paper in the darkroom.
Places are limited to 4 people in each session so book early to avoid disappointment. All materials will be provided.
The sessions will last for 45 minutes. Please be aware that some of the chemistry involved can stain clothes, so we advise participants dress appropriately.
Note: People with no previous experience welcome including family groups. Suitable for children aged 5+ and under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Friday 8th April
This Separated Isle Guided Tour
12.30pm – 1.30pm

Join Paul Sng; who initiated This Separated Isle, and Celeste Bell, a sitter in one of the portraits, as they give a guided tour of the exhibition, offering their insight into the portraits on show. Paul and Celeste co-directed ‘Poly Styrene – I Am a Cliché’ which is being screened at the GFT on Thursday 7th April.
Friday 8th & Saturday 9th April
Pop Up Portrait Studio
12pm-4pm
Free entry – No booking required
Drop into this supported session to get your portrait taken with the choice of various backdrops and props. Ideal for children and young people. A selection of different coloured backdrops and props will be on hand to add vibrancy and fun to your image - and please consider dressing up as much as you want!
Each session is 30 mins and allocated on a first come basis and each sitter will receive an A4 print of their portrait.
