These Suncatcher Cyanotype kits are a fantastic introduction to the world of cameraless photography using the alternative process of Cyanotype, an environmentally friendly way to produce beautiful images.
Sir John Herschel (1792-1871) invented the Blueprint in 1841 which became popular not only with photographers but botanists too. Anna Akins’ (1799-1871) book “Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions” was published in 1841 and was the first photographically illustrated book ever made.
Kit contents: Bottle A: Ferric Ammonium Citrate (Green) Bottle B: Potassium Ferricyanide Bottle C: Store A+B mixture Watercolour Paper/300gsm (A6 x 10 sheets) Foam Applicator Vinyl Gloves
This process is child and beginner friendly. Although the Cyanotype chemicals are non-toxic it is advisable to keep them out of children's reach. In some instances it may cause eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation, therefore, avoid ingestion, inhalation and contact with skin when handling the chemistry.
