Photography and Activism - Mandy Barker Artist Talk
6.30pm Thursday 5th August
Livestreamed through Facebook*
Join us for a special preview artist talk with award winning photographic artist Mandy Barker as she discusses her exhibition Our Plastic Ocean, on show at Street Level Photoworks from Saturday 7th August.
How much plastic do we waste? How much of it is in our oceans?
Over the past ten years Mandy Barker's photographs made with marine plastic debris have received global recognition. Working with scientists she aims to raise awareness about plastic pollution in the world’s oceans, highlighting the harmful effect on marine life and ourselves – ultimately leading the viewer to take action.
This event is programmed to coincide with the Govanhill International Festival and is part of Everything Flows, a specially curated coastal exhibition trail, programmed by Street Level Photoworks in partnership with regional venues and supported by EventScotland as part of the Year of Coasts and Waters 20/21.
